Agility has entered a formal deal with logistics giant GXO following a successful pilot. Digit, Agility's bipedal robot, will be deployed in GXO's logistics operations under a multi-year agreement, marking the industry's first commercial deployment of humanoid robots and first Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) deployment of humanoid robots.
The Digit robots are being supplied to clients through a leasing model called Robot as a Service (RaaS). This model allows clients to defer the massive upfront costs of such a complex system, while still having access to support and software updates2.
Digit robots will first be deployed at a Spanx facility in Flowery Branch, Georgia, as part of a partnership between Agility Robotics and GXO Logistics Inc3. The bipedal robots will be moving totes around the facility as their initial task, marking the first formal commercial deployment of humanoid robots in the industry1.
