Amtrak Is Expanding Its Service Between Minneapolis and Chicago

Amtrak is set to launch a new train service, the Amtrak Borealis, on May 21, enhancing travel options between Minneapolis (St. Paul) and Chicago. The service will offer afternoon departures from St. Paul and late morning departures from Chicago, with tickets starting at $41. This service adds a second daily train option between the two cities, featuring stops along the existing Empire Builder and Hiawatha lines, and includes amenities like coach and business class seating, a cafe car, and scenic views.

The Borealis train, supported by Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois, aims to provide a reliable and convenient transportation alternative, promoting economic growth and increasing access across the three states. The service will take approximately 7 hours and 30 minutes, catering to the increasing number of passengers relying on rail travel in the Midwest.
