Apple quietly kills the old-school iPad and its headphone jack

Apple has discontinued the ninth-generation iPad, the last model to feature a headphone jack, coinciding with the introduction of updated iPad Air and iPad Pro models at its Let Loose event. The 10th-generation iPad, which lacks a headphone jack, has now become the entry-level option in Apple's lineup and has seen a price reduction to $349. Despite the discontinuation, the ninth-gen iPad remains available for $249 from third-party retailers.
