Apple and Meta discussed integrating the latter's generative AI model into Apple's recently announced AI system for iPhones, called Apple Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence is a personal intelligence system for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, announced by Apple at WWDC 2024. It combines the power of generative models with personal context to deliver useful and relevant intelligence1. Integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, it can create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from personal context to simplify everyday tasks while maintaining user privacy through on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute16.
Apple and Meta held preliminary talks about a potential AI partnership in March, but the discussions did not progress due to privacy concerns and Apple's decision not to move forward with integrating Meta's large language model into iOS.
