AT&T is set to launch a new "Turbo" service on May 2, 2024, offering customers enhanced network performance for $7 per month. This service will allow users to optimize their mobile data connection, aiming to reduce latency and improve responsiveness, especially useful in applications like gaming where milliseconds matter.
The Turbo service will adjust the Quality of Service Class Identifiers (QCI) on AT&T's network but does not require standalone 5G technology, though a 5G-capable phone is necessary. The launch follows recent FCC net neutrality guidelines, with AT&T asserting that the Turbo boost will apply equally to all internet content accessed by the user.
