Patch 7 for Baldur's Gate 3, set to release in September, will introduce several new features and improvements to the game. The key highlights of this update include:
Official Mod Support: Patch 7 will introduce official mod support for the game, allowing players to create and share their own content3. This will make the process of building, sharing, and installing mods significantly easier for the community.
Modding Toolkit: The update will also include a modding toolkit that will enable players to create their own mods, upload them to the mod.io servers, download/manage mods directly in Baldur's Gate 3, and tweak multiplay and save game files through a verification UI.
Improved Compatibility: Official mod support will ensure the game's long-term compatibility with user-generated content and will streamline the process of implementing these creations. Mods designed using the official support option will always work within the parameters of Baldur's Gate 3's current build, meaning future patches and updates won't break the experience.
Mod Support on Consoles: Mods will also be playable on console, meaning users on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can finally access custom content.
Closed Alpha and Closed Beta: A closed alpha test for mod support will start on June 3, exclusive to mod creators, followed by a closed beta in July for 1,000 lucky applicants3. The alpha test will develop mod tools and bring over existing mods, while the beta test will provide feedback on these.
Evil Endings: Patch 7 will add more and improved evil endings to the game for players who do non-Durge and Durge playthroughs. This includes new cinematic cutscenes with newly composed music pieces.
Bug Fixes and Performance Enhancements: As with previous patches, Patch 7 will also address various bug fixes and performance enhancements to improve the overall gaming experience.
Please note that mods with explicit content or themes will not be officially supported, but they can still be downloaded manually, and the game's browser will still recognize them and allow you to manage them in the mod load order of the game.
