A Los Angeles judge has placed Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson under conservatorship due to a diagnosis of "major neurocognitive disorder," commonly known as dementia. The decision followed the recent death of his wife, Melinda, who had been his primary caregiver. Longtime representatives Jean Sievers and manager LeeAnn Hard have been appointed as his conservators.
The conservatorship aims to maintain stability in Wilson's household and ensure his ongoing care, as outlined by his family and medical team. This is not Wilson's first conservatorship; he was previously under one in the 1990s to protect him from psychologist Eugene Landy, who had been over-medicating him. The Beach Boys, formed by Wilson and his relatives, are celebrated as one of the most successful bands in history.
