Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems to lay off hundreds days after whistleblower death

Spirit AeroSystems, a supplier for Boeing, announced it will lay off between 400 and 450 employees due to a slowdown in commercial program deliveries. This decision comes shortly after the sudden death of whistleblower Joshua Dean, who had raised concerns about quality control issues on Boeing's 737 Max production line.

Boeing has faced multiple challenges recently, including a $355 million net loss in the first quarter and safety issues that led to the grounding of the 737 Max. These issues have impacted Spirit AeroSystems, leading to a significant first-quarter loss of $616.7 million as Boeing adjusted its production processes to enhance safety.
