The malfunction in the anti-lock braking control module can potentially increase the risk of a crash by disabling the vehicles' electronic stability control systems. The electronic stability control is a key safety feature that helps drivers maintain control of their vehicles, particularly during difficult driving conditions or emergency maneuvers. If this system fails, drivers may lose control of their vehicles, increasing the likelihood of an accident.

Chrysler's recent recall covers certain model year 2022 Dodge Durango, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500 vehicles. The recall is due to a software malfunction that could disable the cars' electronic stability control systems. The anti-lock braking control module in these vehicles may experience a malfunction, causing stability control to fail and increasing the risk of a crash. As a remedy, dealers will update the anti-lock braking control module software for free.

Notification letters to dealers and vehicle owners are scheduled to be mailed out on July 26.
