‘Civil War’ Actor Wagner Moura to Star in Kleber Mendonça Filho’s ’70s-Set Political Thriller ‘The Secret Agent’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Kleber Mendonça Filho, known for "Bacurau," is directing "The Secret Agent," a political thriller set in 1970s Brazil during the military dictatorship. The film stars Wagner Moura as Marcelo, a professor fleeing São Paulo for Recife amidst Carnival, only to find himself ensnared by corruption and surveillance. MK2 Films is introducing the project at the Cannes Film Market, with production by Cinemascopio and MK Productions. The film, blending historical and folklore elements, is set for a 2025 release.
