DeepMind, a division of Google, has upgraded its protein-folding software, AlphaFold, to a new version that includes a diffusion engine. This upgrade enhances the software's ability to predict protein interactions and modifications more accurately. Previously, AlphaFold could predict protein structures but struggled with complex interactions involving other proteins, DNA, and chemicals. The new diffusion engine improves computational efficiency and accuracy by using a noise-based training method, allowing for precise atomic position predictions in protein structures.
