The name of the expansion that caused server issues for Destiny 2 is "The Final Shape". This expansion was highly anticipated and led to a large number of players attempting to access the game simultaneously, resulting in server overload and login issues.

The Final Shape expansion for Destiny 2 launched on June 4 at 1 PM ET.

During the server downtime, Steam alone reported 220,000 concurrent players trying to log into Destiny 2. This number only accounts for the PC player base and does not include the game's console players.
