Galaxy Z Fold 6's Missing Wi-Fi 7 Support
FCC Certification Achieved
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 has recently received FCC certification, indicating it is closer to launch. However, this certification highlighted the absence of Wi-Fi 7 support, unlike its counterpart, the S24 Ultra.
Connectivity Features
Despite lacking Wi-Fi 7, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will still support a range of connectivity options including 5G, UWB, Wi-Fi 6e, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.3, aligning closely with the Galaxy S24 Ultra's features.
Potential Reasons for Limited Upgrades
Samsung may be reserving more advanced features like Wi-Fi 7 for a potential Ultra variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or the new Fold 6 Slim, focusing on differentiating the models within its lineup.
Upcoming Unpacked Event
Samsung is set to officially unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6 along with other new devices at the Unpacked event in Paris on July 10.

The connectivity feature set of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy S24 Ultra are quite similar, with both devices offering 5G (sub6 and mmWave), Ultra-wideband (UWB), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6e, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.3 support. The only notable difference is that the Galaxy S24 Ultra has Wi-Fi 7 support, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 does not.

The lack of Wi-Fi 7 support in the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is surprising compared to the S24 Ultra because the S24 Ultra, another Samsung flagship device, is certified for Wi-Fi 7. Historically, Samsung has maintained parity in connectivity features between its Galaxy S Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold smartphones. In this case, it was expected that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 would also support Wi-Fi 7, especially since the Snapdragon chip powering the phone has the necessary hardware to support it. However, the FCC certification for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 does not mention Wi-Fi 7 support, which indicates that Samsung has decided not to include this feature in the upcoming foldable device1.
