Google Messages RCS conversations with iPhones have some quirks

Google provides end-to-end encryption for messages sent through its Messages app on Android devices. This encryption ensures that only the sender and recipient can read the content of the messages, as they are encrypted during transit. It is important to note that both the sender and recipient must have RCS chats turned on in the Google Messages app for end-to-end encryption to be active.

Google Messages indicates non-encrypted RCS by displaying a lock icon with a slash through it. Additionally, the "Message Details" will note the "Type" as "Rich Communication Service Message" instead of "End-to-End Encrypted Rich Communication Service message34."
