Google Photos introduces an AI search feature, Ask Photos

Google Photos is introducing a new AI-powered feature called Ask Photos, utilizing the Gemini AI model to enhance search capabilities. This feature allows users to make natural language queries to find specific photos based on content and metadata. Launched at Google I/O 2024, it aims to simplify finding photos in large digital collections.

Ask Photos can handle complex requests like identifying the best photos from specific locations or events, and even answer queries about past events by understanding themes from photos. This feature, which starts in the U.S. in English, also respects privacy, as it does not use personal data for ads or train other AI products.
