NotebookLM is an AI-powered note-taking assistant developed by Google. It utilizes AI technology to help generate summaries and answer questions based on the documents, transcripts, notes, and other sources users upload. Unlike traditional AI chatbots, NotebookLM adheres to the sources provided by users, ensuring that the information generated is based on the uploaded data rather than the model's training data. This reduces the risk of unrelated or incorrect information.
NotebookLM is powered by Google's multimodal Large Language Model (LLM) Gemini 1.5 Pro. It supports content sourcing from Google Slides and web URLs, in addition to Google Docs, PDFs, and text files. Users can create notes or ask questions about the content in their documents or explore online material. The platform also provides inline citations, enabling users to fact-check AI-generated responses and read the original text for context.
Furthermore, NotebookLM features a Notebook Guide, which helps convert content into various formats such as FAQs, briefing documents, or study guides. It is available in over 200 countries and supports more than 100 languages.

The recent expansion of NotebookLM includes countries such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, and the U.K., as well as 208 other countries and territories. This expansion brings the total number of supported countries to over 200.

NotebookLM now supports 108 languages in its interface. Some of these languages include Arabic, Assamese, Bengali, Cantonese, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Hindi, and Hinglish3.
