Google introduced Veo at Google I/O 2024, a new AI capable of creating HD videos from various prompts, rivalling OpenAI's Sora. Veo can generate and edit 1080p videos up to a minute long, but is not yet widely available.
Veo stands out by editing existing videos via text commands and maintaining visual consistency across frames. It can produce detailed scenes with cinematic effects, showing potential in video synthesis technology.
Despite impressive demonstrations, Google acknowledges challenges in AI video generation, such as maintaining visual consistency. Veo will initially be available to selected creators through Google's VideoFX, with plans for broader integration into platforms like YouTube Shorts.
