Here's how many people celebrated Eastside light rail opening

Around 17,500 people participated in the opening event of Sound Transit’s new 2 Line, which features eight stations stretching from Bellevue to Redmond. The celebration included music, dance, and food, with transit operators adding extra trains to manage the crowd. The event, funded by private contributions, marked the launch of a segment of a larger $3.7 billion project approved in 2008, expected to be completed by late 2025.
