The Mirage, an iconic hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip, will close on July 17 after 34 years to undergo a major transformation by Hard Rock International. The property will be rebranded as "Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas," featuring a 700-foot tall guitar-shaped hotel, with a reopening planned for 2027.
The Mirage, which opened in 1989 as the first megaresort in the area, played a pivotal role in transforming Las Vegas into a resort destination. The closure will result in over 3,000 layoffs, though the renovation is expected to create 2,500 construction jobs and employ over 6,000 people once reopened.
