Introducing Amtrak Borealis trains with Expanded Service between St. Paul and Chicago via Milwaukee

Amtrak has launched ticket sales for the new Borealis train service, which will offer a second daily route between St. Paul and Chicago via Milwaukee starting May 21, 2024. This service aims to provide a more comfortable and sustainable travel option, with features such as wide reclining seats, free Wi-Fi, and scenic views.

The Borealis train will make stops at existing Empire Builder and Hiawatha stations, enhancing connectivity across the Midwest. The initiative is supported by Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois, and is part of broader efforts to expand passenger rail service in the region, bolstered by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Officials from the involved states and the Federal Railroad Administration highlighted the benefits of this expansion, including increased travel flexibility and economic growth. This new service reflects ongoing investments in America's passenger rail system and the collaboration between state and federal entities to improve transportation infrastructure.
