Apple is set to introduce a new AI-driven feature in iOS 18 that will automatically summarize notifications and enhance Siri's conversational abilities. This update, revealed by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, will also include AI-based enhancements for calendar management and app suggestions, aiming to streamline user interactions by providing "proactive intelligence."
The AI functionalities will be processed both on-device and via the cloud, utilizing high-end Apple silicon chips. Despite these advancements, a ChatGPT-like chatbot will not be part of the new features. Apple's move into generative AI will be showcased at the Worldwide Developers Conference starting June 10, as the company aims to catch up with competitors in AI technology.
