Jack Dorsey, a key supporter of Bluesky, has confirmed his departure from the board of the social media project he initiated. His exit was subtly announced in a response to a query on X, formerly known as Twitter. Bluesky, now an independent entity, has acknowledged Dorsey's contributions and is seeking a new board member aligned with its vision of a decentralized social network.
Bluesky, which transitioned to a public benefit corporation and opened to the public in February, continues to develop under the leadership of CEO Jay Graber. The platform operates on a decentralized protocol called atproto, emphasizing user control over their social media experience. Meanwhile, Dorsey remains active on X, engaging in various discussions including social media rights and high-profile entertainment feuds.
