In Japan, there were more than 1,000 regulations that required the use of floppy disks. These rules have now finally been scrapped, said Digital Minister Taro Kono.
Taro Kono currently serves as the Minister for Digital Transformation in the Japanese government, leading the country's efforts to modernize its bureaucracy and phase out outdated technologies like floppy disks and fax machines. He has held various other positions in the past, including Minister for Administrative Reform, Minister for Civil Service Reform, and Minister of State for Regulatory Reform.
Taro Kono first declared war on floppy disks in 2021 when he was appointed as Japan's Digital Minister. His goal was to eliminate the use of outdated technology, including floppy disks and fax machines, in government operations and modernize the country's digital infrastructure.
