Limited Run Games has apologized for issues with their 3DO game releases, particularly "D: The Collector’s Edition," which was shipped on CD-R discs instead of traditionally pressed CDs. The company acknowledged the challenges of manufacturing for older hardware and assured that the choice of CD-R was to ensure compatibility, not to reduce costs. They have halted further shipments and are exploring solutions for traditionally pressed discs, offering replacements or refunds to affected customers.

The backlash came from customers and online commentators who noticed the games were on lower-quality CD-Rs, which might not work well with the aged 3DO systems. Limited Run Games has committed to not producing further 3DO titles until the issue is resolved and have expressed their intention to maintain high standards and customer satisfaction in future releases.
