When Michael Ochs sold his extensive collection of 20th-century photographs to Getty Images in 2007, the scope of the collection was not fully known. It included 3 million items, featuring unseen vintage prints and negatives, some from Old Hollywood. Getty has since digitized nearly 400,000 images, underscoring the historical value of these visuals. Ochs, who began his archival career by rescuing discarded photos from Columbia Records, transformed his passion into a business, influenced by the realization of the significance of preserving such imagery.
