Cargill Meat Solutions has recalled over 16,000 pounds of ground beef, sold at Walmart, due to potential E. coli contamination. The recall affects several product types produced on April 26-27, 2024, and distributed across nine states. Consumers are advised to either dispose of or return the contaminated products.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) warns that the affected beef could carry E. coli O157:H7, a strain known to cause severe foodborne illnesses. Symptoms include diarrhea and abdominal cramps, leading to more severe conditions like hemolytic uremic syndrome. No adverse reactions have been reported yet.
