Reliance Jio decided to increase their tariffs by 12-25% to boost average revenue per user (ARPU) amid significant 5G investments3. This move is expected to help improve the financial health of the telecom sector and pave the way for monetization of their 5G business4. The new plans will come into effect from July 3.
Airtel cited the need for the average revenue per user (ARPU) to be above ₹300 for a sustainable business model for telecom firms in the country as the reason for increasing their mobile tariffs.
Reliance Jio has increased the prices of its monthly data plans. The new prices are as follows: the 2GB plan now costs ₹189, the 1.5GB/day plan is priced at ₹299, and the 3GB/day plan is now ₹449. These changes are effective from July 3, 2024.
