A new study suggests that the fatal implosion of the OceanGate Titan submersible, which killed five people last June during a descent to the Titanic wreck, may have been caused by "micro-buckling." Researchers from the University of Houston believe that imperfections in the sub's thin-walled structure worsened with each dive, ultimately failing under extreme ocean pressure. The study, while not directly examining the Titan sub, used computer simulations to analyze similar vessel materials and shapes.
