California's Attorney General, Rob Bonta, has extended the ban on hidden fees, previously applicable to hotels and event tickets, to also include restaurants. This legislation, effective from July 1, mandates that all costs be clearly included in the menu prices, eliminating additional surcharges for employee benefits or higher wages. While some restaurant owners, like Santo Esposito, support this transparency, others fear it may lead to reduced customer turnout due to apparent higher prices and potentially harm the restaurant industry financially.
