Samsung is expanding its One UI 6.1 update to older Galaxy models, introducing features previously exclusive to the Galaxy S24 across its 2021 and 2022 flagships. The rollout, starting in Korea and soon moving to other regions, will enhance devices like the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Z series with advanced AI capabilities such as Live Translate and generative image editing. However, older models like the Galaxy S21 may receive limited features due to hardware constraints.
The update also includes non-AI improvements like the new Quick Share and Samsung Find app, enhancing device interoperability and tracking. Despite the upgrades, there's concern among users about the uneven distribution of features, which could affect device value and consumer satisfaction. The rollout's next phase will reach the Galaxy A53, A54, and S21 FE in Canada by May 14, but it's unclear if these models will receive the full suite of AI features.
