A sleep apnea detection feature has started appearing on Samsung Galaxy Watches3. The feature, which was cleared by the FDA in February, requires the user to wear the watch while sleeping for two nights3. The watch then tracks the user's sleep for a minimum of 4 hours each night, monitoring relative decreases in blood oxygen levels. After two nights, the feature turns off and provides the user with a result indicating the likelihood of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea.
The Sleep Apnea detection feature for Samsung Galaxy Watch devices received FDA approval in February 2024. This feature allows users over the age of 22, who have not been diagnosed with sleep apnea, to detect signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) over a two-night monitoring period.
