Prior to the PlayStation 5's launch in 2020, Sony mentioned that "PS5 is compatible with 8K displays at launch, and after a future system software update will be able to output resolutions up to 8K when content is available, with supported software126." Since then, there has been virtually no true support for 8K titles, except for a game known as The Touryst.
