The original value of the Nantucket summer home was nearly $2 million. However, due to the threat of erosion and the ocean reclaiming the land, the owners sold it for $200,000 to a neighboring businessman.

The owners were forced to sell their Nantucket property due to severe erosion threatening the house's stability. The relentless erosion had eaten away at the shoreline, leaving the property dangerously close to the Atlantic Ocean. The situation became so dire that the couple accepted a significantly lower offer from a neighbor to sell the property, as they didn't want to see it fall into the ocean or get demolished.

Jane Carlin said that the neighborhood has transformed due to erosion, which has caused the disappearance of nearby homes and the road itself. She mentioned that it used to be a neighborhood where people knew each other, but now there's not much left to see.
