Geoff Keighley, the host of Summer Game Fest, advised fans not to expect too many surprise reveals at this year's event. He mentioned that the show would primarily focus on updates for already announced games, with only a couple of new game announcements planned2. Keighley encouraged fans to manage their expectations regarding big surprises or megaton shocks, as the majority of the content would be about games that have already been revealed to the public.

During the Summer Game Fest, the title sequence for the Among Us animated series was revealed, giving fans a glimpse of the characters and their roles aboard the Skeld2. The series is a collaboration between CBS Studios, Among Us developer Innersloth, and Titmouse, the animation studio behind Big Mouth and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The show will follow a similar premise as the game, with members of the crew being replaced by an alien shapeshifter intent on causing confusion, sabotaging the ship, and killing everyone6. The cast includes notable names such as Dan Stevens, Debra Wilson, Ashley Johnson, and more4. The series does not yet have a release date.

Sonic x Shadow Generations, announced at the Summer Game Fest, is an action platformer game that brings a remastered version of 2011's Sonic Generations5. The game boasts remastered versions of 2D and 3D stages from Sonic Generations with upgraded visuals and bonus content5. In addition to the classic Sonic gameplay, the game introduces a new campaign featuring Shadow the Hedgehog as a playable character.
Players will get to experience Shadow's journey and explore his dark past with never-before-seen powers and abilities3. Shadow is equipped with new powers, abilities, and Chaos Control–a rare ability that enables Shadow to harness the power of a Chaos Emerald and lets him stop time and warp to new positions4.
The game also revisits the fan-favorite plot point of Maria, a child, being killed by the military. It's something the series has steered clear of since the 2000s, and many didn't think Sega would be bold enough to bring it up again.
Sonic x Shadow Generations is set to launch on October 25th, 2024, and will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
