The Cheyenne Supercomputer, a 5.34-petaflop system with 145,152 CPU cores and 313,344GB of RAM, is currently being auctioned by the US government for a fraction of its original cost. Despite its power, the system has some issues, including faulty quick disconnects and about 1% of its nodes failing.
The auction, with no reserve met yet, has bids up to $28,085 with three days remaining. Potential buyers should note that the supercomputer requires professional moving services and does not come with fiber optic and CAT5/6 cabling. Cheyenne was previously used for significant research, including climate simulations and studying natural disasters.
