CDK Global's software is used by approximately 15,000 car dealerships across the US and Canada. The company provides data and technology solutions to automotive dealerships, with its systems managing tasks such as scheduling, records, and workflow.
CDK Global plans to continue its phased approach to restore its Dealer Management System (DMS) and rapidly bring dealers back online4. The company anticipates all dealers' connections will be live by late Wednesday, July 3rd, or early morning Thursday, July 4th. CDK Global has already brought a small group of dealers live on the DMS and is working to restore additional applications and customer care channels.
During the CDK Global outage, dealers have been managing operations by resorting to pen and paper for tasks such as processing purchases and registering cars. Some have sent customers to local registration offices to register their vehicles in person. Dealers have also experienced delays in sales and repairs, with wait times doubling or tripling in some cases.
