The Mirage hotel-casino, a landmark on the Las Vegas Strip and pioneer of the megaresort era, will close on July 17 to undergo major renovations. It will be transformed into the Hard Rock Las Vegas, set to reopen in 2027 with a distinctive guitar-shaped hotel tower.
The closure marks the end of an era for the Mirage, which opened in 1989 and featured iconic attractions and shows. Over 3,000 employees will be laid off, with severance plans in place. The property, now owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, will continue to honor existing reservations until the closure date.
