The iconic Mirage hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip, a landmark since 1989 known for its luxurious offerings and entertainment, is set to close on July 17. This closure marks the end of an era and precedes a major transformation of the property into the Hard Rock Las Vegas, expected to reopen in 2027 with a new guitar-shaped hotel tower.
The Mirage's closure follows the recent shutdown of the Tropicana Las Vegas and is part of a broader evolution of the Strip. Over 3,000 employees will be affected, with Hard Rock International committing to $80 million in severance. The Culinary Workers Union has negotiated terms to aid these workers, ensuring severance pay and the possibility of reemployment upon reopening.
