Microsoft is set to redefine the Windows PC landscape with its focus on Windows on Arm, revealing a new vision this Monday. The initiative, named CADMUS, involves collaboration with Qualcomm to produce Arm-based silicon chips that integrate advanced AI capabilities, enhancing performance and efficiency across various applications like real-time language translation and on-device text and image generation.
The unveiling will include the first CADMUS PCs such as a new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop, exclusively featuring Qualcomm’s Arm chips, signaling a significant shift from Intel processors. This move highlights Microsoft's confidence in Arm technology, supported by major OEMs planning to launch their Arm-powered devices soon. Additionally, popular applications like Chrome, Spotify, and Photoshop are now optimized for Windows on Arm, indicating robust ecosystem support.
