Swiss startup Climeworks has launched the world's largest carbon capture plant in Iceland, capable of removing 36,000 tons of CO2 annually using 72 industrial fans. The CO2 is stored underground in volcanic basalt, turning into solid crystals. Despite its scale, the plant's impact is minimal in the broader context of global carbon neutrality goals, capturing only 0.0006 percent of the necessary CO2 removal to combat climate change effectively.
