
Walgreens and Big Lots are also closing underperforming stores. Walgreens plans to close hundreds of stores, while Big Lots may close up to 40 stores as it considers bankruptcy. Other companies with a New Jersey presence that have filed for bankruptcy since the pandemic include Red Lobster, Rite Aid, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Christmas Tree Shops.

Stop & Shop will close 10 New Jersey locations by the end of 2024: Edison (1083 Inman Ave. and 1049 US Highway 1 South), Howell (4861 US Highway 9), Phillipsburg (1278 US Highway 22), Piscataway (581 Stelton Rd.), Carlstadt (625 Paterson Ave.), Franklin Township (1221 State Route 27), Ringwood (130 Skyline Dr.), Point Pleasant Beach (505 Richmond Ave), and Jackson (2275 West County Line Rd.).

After the closure of 32 underperforming stores, Stop & Shop will continue to operate more than 350 stores across its five-state footprint.
