Unbabel has been in operation for the best part of a decade. The company was founded in August 2013 by Vasco Pedro, João Graça, Sofia Pessanha, Bruno Silva, and Hugo Silva and was incubated by Y Combinator in late 2014.
The EU plans to retool supercomputers for AI innovation by upgrading the existing infrastructure, focusing on adding more GPUs and rewiring components for efficient data flow. This will enable the supercomputers to better support the training of generative AI models. The Commission also proposes amending existing EU legislation related to joint procurement of high-performance supercomputers to increase flexibility around upgrades.
The supercomputers providing 8 million GPU hours to the four winning startups are Finland-based Lumi and Italy-based Leonardo, both of which are pre-exascale HPC supercomputers1. Additionally, Spain-based MareNostrum 5 will allocate 800,000 computational hours to the fifth startup, Multiverse Computing.
