Walgreens is launching a generic version of over-the-counter Narcan

Walgreens announced it will offer a generic version of over-the-counter Narcan, a life-saving opioid overdose reversal drug, priced at $34.99 for two doses—$10 less than the brand-name version. This move aims to enhance accessibility and normalize the availability of naloxone. The generic nasal spray will be available nationwide in stores by the end of the month and is already purchasable online. This introduction follows the less successful rollout of a brand-name over-the-counter version last fall, which faced issues due to inconsistent store placement and high costs.
