WattEV opens US' first megawatt charge station with 1.2MW speeds and solar

WattEV has launched the first U.S. electric truck charging depot featuring the pioneering Megawatt Charge System (MCS) with speeds up to 1.2MW, the fastest currently available, complemented by solar and battery backup. Located in Bakersfield, CA, this depot is also the first in North America to deploy an MCS charger publicly. The setup includes a mix of 50 chargers, some grid-tied and others fully grid-islanded, supported by significant solar power and battery storage, funded in part by the California Energy Commission. This infrastructure is designed to anticipate future needs, aligning with emerging truck technologies and charging standards.
