

The 1967 Pontiac Firebird, launched in response to the Ford Mustang, featured a variety of engines. The standard was a 230 cubic inch (3.8 Liters) inline six-cylinder engine producing 165 horsepower. Options included a 215 horsepower "Sprint" version of this engine, a 326 cubic inch (5.3 Liters) V8 with up to 285 horsepower, and a top-of-the-line 400 cubic inch (6.6 Liters) V8, which offered up to 325 horsepower. The Firebird's engines were unique to Pontiac, adding a distinct European flavor to its performance.
