Cuevas filed his initial complaint about the issues in October 2023, reporting "substandard manufacturing and maintenance processes" he witnessed to Boeing and Spirit1.
The FAA received over 11 times more Boeing whistleblower reports in the first five months of this year compared to all of 2023. The agency strongly encourages anyone with safety concerns to report them and thoroughly investigates every report. This surge in reports indicates intense scrutiny on Boeing's safety and quality practices.
Boeing said it had previously investigated Cuevas' allegations and they did not pose a safety problem. "Engineering analysis determined that the issues raised did not present a safety concern and were addressed," Boeing said in a statement. The company added that it is reviewing the documents Cuevas' attorneys made public and will investigate any new claims.
