Who is the wealthiest person in your state? Forbes releases new list

Forbes has updated its list of the wealthiest individuals in each U.S. state, revealing that nearly every state hosts at least one billionaire. As of May 2024, only Alaska, Delaware, and West Virginia lack billionaire residents. The combined wealth of the individuals on this list totals approximately $1.6 trillion, marking an increase from the previous year.

Elon Musk leads the overall list with a net worth of $195 billion, closely followed by Jeff Bezos who recently moved to Florida, making Bill Gates the richest person in Washington. Notable newcomers include Todd Graves of Raising Cane's in Louisiana and members of the Cathy family from Chick-fil-A in Georgia. The list also highlights eight states where the wealthiest individual is a woman, with Virginia's Jacqueline Mars being the richest among them.
