According to recent research by Microsoft and LinkedIn, 75% of workers are using AI in their roles, but over half are hesitant to admit using it for crucial tasks due to fears of appearing replaceable. This concern is widespread, with 53% of those using AI for significant tasks worried about job security. Despite these fears, the demand for AI skills is increasing, with leaders preferring to hire less experienced individuals with AI capabilities over more seasoned professionals without them.
The study also highlights a gap in AI skill development initiatives by employers. While workers are actively adopting AI to enhance their competitiveness and job prospects, only 39% have received AI training from their employers. This discrepancy suggests that while employees recognize the importance of AI, companies may not be fully supporting their development in this area, potentially hindering both individual and organizational growth.
